Senior Project Manager – Synthetic Human Genome Programme

About the role
The Wellcome Synthetic Human Genome (SynHG) programme is a five‑year, £10 million research initiative that aims to develop scalable tools for synthesising large sections of human genomes. The University of Oxford is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead planning, coordination and delivery across multiple partner institutions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed programme plans, milestones and reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate activities across Oxford, Manchester, Imperial College London, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Kent.
- Monitor budget, risks and compliance with funder requirements.
- Support governance committees, advisory boards and provide analysis for senior decision‑making.
- Prepare regular progress reports for the Wellcome Trust and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing large, multi‑institution research or technology programmes.
- Strong understanding of project governance, financial monitoring and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior academics and external partners.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving, interdisciplinary environment.
