Senior Purchasing Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Purchasing Engineer to join our Glenrothes plant, supporting the design and production of radial piston motors for leading OEMs. You will combine engineering knowledge with strategic procurement to drive cost‑effective sourcing and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with organisational goals while maintaining quality and cost targets.
• Analyse engineering specifications to select optimal suppliers and negotiate favourable terms.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance evaluation, contract administration and issue resolution.
• Conduct cost analysis, market research and competitive bidding to identify savings.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and quality teams to ensure timely, compliant procurement.
• Utilise ERP and procurement systems for order management, inventory tracking and reporting.
• Monitor supply‑chain risks and implement contingency plans.
• Lead cross‑functional projects to streamline processes and embed best practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply‑chain management, with senior‑level responsibility.
• Strong technical understanding of engineering specifications, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proven track record in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation.
• Excellent analytical, data interpretation and project‑management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
