Senior Python Developer – Trading & Risk Platforms – Up to £700 per day

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our trading and risk platform team in central London. You will work on high‑performance backend services that support the full trade lifecycle, risk calculations and regulatory reporting for an investment bank.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Python applications for trading and risk platforms.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and automation for trade, risk and reconciliation workflows.
• Process large financial datasets to support PnL, risk and regulatory reporting.
• Contribute to architecture, scalability and system design decisions.
• Collaborate with quants, traders and risk teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs using Flask, FastAPI or Django.
• Maintain high code quality through testing, code reviews and best practices.
• Mentor junior developers when required.

Required profile

• 9–15 years of relevant experience in Python development.
• Proven experience building enterprise trading or risk platforms within investment banking or capital markets.
• Domain knowledge of market risk, CCR, PnL, trade lifecycle and reconciliations.
• Understanding of derivatives, swaps, futures, options and fixed‑income products.

Required skills

• Core Python development.
• SQL and large‑scale data handling.
• Pandas and NumPy for data processing and analytics.
• REST API development (Flask, FastAPI, Django).
• Unix/Linux environment and shell scripting.
• Performance optimisation and building scalable systems.
• Desirable: PySpark or other distributed data processing frameworks.
