Senior QC Laboratory Analyst

About the role
We are seeking a Senior QC Laboratory Analyst to join a leading UK manufacturing business near Preston. In this senior laboratory position you will provide technical leadership, support testing and release of purified water, raw materials, bulk products and finished goods, and ensure compliance with GLP, GMP and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing of purified water, raw materials, bulk products and finished goods according to approved methods and SOPs.
- Review and approve analytical data, including chromatographic results, and release materials from quarantine.
- Lead out‑of‑specification (OOS) and out‑of‑trend (OOT) investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment and analytical methods.
- Validate new analytical methods, support method transfers and maintain workflows in Chromeleon.
- Coordinate testing with external laboratories and assist with customer complaint investigations.
- Maintain laboratory documentation, databases and retained samples in line with GLP and GMP requirements.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory.
- Train, coach and support junior QC analysts and deputise for the QC Laboratory Supervisor as needed.
Required profile
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline (essential).
- Strong practical experience in a QC or analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Broad knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques and method transfer.
- Experience working in a GLP and/or GMP regulated environment.
- Previous experience leading investigations and supporting junior team members.
Required skills
- High‑performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
- Gas chromatography (GC).
- Chromeleon software for instrument control and data processing.
- Analytical chemistry techniques and method validation.
- Method transfer within regulated manufacturing.
