Senior Quality Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Quality Manager to join a leading construction business at its Swindon depot. The role will drive quality strategy, support bid preparation, and ensure compliance across large‑scale infrastructure projects, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as nuclear defence.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic quality planning and contribute to enterprise‑wide quality initiatives.
• Develop Quality Plans and documentation for bids, ECI phases and project start‑up.
• Act as the initial Quality Manager during mobilisation of new projects.
• Deliver internal audits and support second‑ and third‑party audits.
• Conduct supplier reviews, supply‑chain assurance visits and manage non‑conformity logs.
• Visit active sites to review quality performance, provide guidance and lead improvement projects.
• Facilitate lessons‑learned forums and share insights across teams.
• Deliver training and coaching on quality matters to non‑quality staff.
• Promote required cultures such as Nuclear Safety and Collaboration, and deputise for the Head of Quality Management when needed.

Required profile

• Experience in nuclear defence, utilities or other highly regulated sectors.
• Background in large Tier 1 contractor environments within construction or major infrastructure.
• Proven ability to deliver ISO 9001 audits and manage integrated management systems.
• Experience supporting bids, early contractor involvement (ECI) phases and project mobilisation.
• Familiarity with business‑wide improvement planning and cultural development.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 audit competence (IRCA 5‑day course or equivalent).
• Integrated Management Systems knowledge.
• Document control processes and EDMS platforms (ProjectWise, 4Projects, ASite, Themis).
• ISO 19650 and document numbering standards.
• Supply‑chain quality assessment and supplier development.
• Quality data analysis and non‑conformity management.
