Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Our client is a well‑established, highly regarded privately owned main contractor working with major blue‑chip customers across commercial construction, distribution, logistics, industrial, refurbishment and retail projects. The position reports directly to the Commercial Director and may be titled Senior Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Cost planning, budgeting and commercial reporting.
• Procurement, tendering and subcontractor management.
• CVRs, valuations and variations.
• Contract administration (JCT / Design & Build / NEC).
• Value engineering and commercial risk management.
• Client and stakeholder liaison.
• Final accounts preparation.
• Working closely with operational and project delivery teams.
• Supporting and mentoring less experienced commercial colleagues.

Required profile

• Substantial Quantity Surveying / commercial management experience within construction.
• Strong main contractor background.
• Ability to manage projects with a high degree of autonomy.
• Experience in sectors such as commercial construction, industrial/logistics, distribution, refurbishment or retail.
• Commercially astute with strong procurement, cost control and contractual capability.
• Credible and confident when dealing directly with clients and stakeholders.
• Comfortable working flexibly between home, project sites and office meetings.
• Willingness to travel regularly to sites across London and the South East.
• Retail fit‑out or refurbishment experience advantageous but not essential.
