Senior Rehabilitation Technician – Wheelchair Services

About the role

The Senior Rehabilitation Technician (Band 4) works within the West of Scotland mobile wheelchair service, delivering, fitting and repairing manual and powered wheelchairs as well as routine seating equipment. You will join a multidisciplinary team at the WestMarc Yoker Depot, supporting patients and carers with safe, reliable equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise and schedule your own workload and that of Wheelchair Delivery Assistants.
• Perform maintenance and repair of all manual and powered wheelchairs and routine seating equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and national guidelines.
• Deliver, fit and demonstrate safe operation of equipment to wheelchair users and their carers.
• Provide technical advice to the interdisciplinary team and support other mobile technical teams when required.
• Identify, investigate and report adverse incidents involving wheelchairs following national medical‑device reporting procedures.
• Repair seating equipment under clinical and technical guidelines.

Required profile

• HNC in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent) or ONC with three years relevant experience.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in an engineering environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong time‑management, problem‑solving and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Wheelchair maintenance and repair.
• Powered wheelchair servicing.
• Seating equipment repair.
• Mechanical engineering knowledge and material handling.
• Familiarity with national medical‑device adverse incident reporting.
