Senior Researcher – Population Health (Grade 8)

About the role
The Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of Oxford is seeking a Senior Researcher (Grade 8) to join the Awadalla laboratory. The role focuses on integrating large‑scale single‑cell datasets with longitudinal population studies such as UK Biobank, CanPath and All of Us.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse and interpret massive single‑cell genomic data in the context of population health cohorts.
- Develop and apply quantitative and statistical genetics methods to uncover biological mechanisms of disease.
- Collaborate with an international, multidisciplinary team to design and execute research projects.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts, reports and presentations for peer‑reviewed journals and conferences.
- Contribute to grant writing and acquisition of research funding.
Required profile
- PhD/DPhil in quantitative, genomic or molecular epidemiology, machine learning, statistical genetics or a closely related discipline.
- Post‑doctoral experience in quantitative genomics or related fields.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.

What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract (3 years) with the possibility of part‑time arrangements.
- Salary range £49,119 – £58,265 per annum (up to £65,336 inclusive of university weighting).
