Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

About the role

Our client, a leading national provider of residential care, education and therapeutic services for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, is seeking a Senior Residential Support Worker for a 2‑bed children’s home in Stockton‑on‑Tees. You will lead by example, creating a safe and nurturing environment while supporting young people in daily life skills and collaborating with internal therapy teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support young people with daily activities, life‑skills training, outings and appointments.
• Professionally manage challenging behaviours alongside senior staff and therapeutic services.
• Guide and mentor the residential team, sharing best practices and maintaining high standards of care.
• Partner with psychologists to implement behavioural boundaries and support strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience in a children’s residential home (adult care, nursery or school experience not accepted).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Relevant childcare qualification advantageous but not essential.
• Flexibility to work a 2‑shift weekly pattern, including weekends and mandatory sleep‑ins.
