Senior Risk Manager – Banking Sector

About the role

The bank is creating a new Senior Risk Manager position reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer. This role will shape the second‑line risk oversight capability, providing independent challenge and assurance across financial, prudential, market and operational risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the enterprise‑wide Risk Management Framework.
• Embed a strong risk culture aligned with the bank’s values and risk appetite.
• Review and challenge business initiatives for risk and regulatory considerations.
• Set, monitor and report against risk appetite statements, thresholds and limits.
• Produce high‑quality risk reporting for executive management, Risk Committee, Audit Committee and the Board.
• Provide second‑line oversight across credit, liquidity, treasury, market and operational risk.
• Oversee quantitative risk methodologies and stress‑testing programmes.
• Challenge liquidity and interest‑rate risk management and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review and challenge key regulatory submissions such as ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan, Solvent Exit Analysis and Resolution Pack.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in banking risk management, preferably within a senior role.
• Deep knowledge of PRA and FCA regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to work with senior leadership, board committees and UK regulators.
• Strong understanding of credit, liquidity, treasury, market and operational risk disciplines.
• Excellent analytical, communication and influencing skills.
