Senior Scala Developer – Banking Domain

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Scala Developer to join our technology team in the banking domain. You will design, develop, and maintain high‑performance APIs, backend components, and integrations that power our application platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, high‑performance applications using Scala.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and micro‑services.
• Develop and optimise database solutions using MySQL.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application performance and reliability issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best‑practice design and development.
• Support CI/CD implementation and deployment automation initiatives.

Required profile

• 6+ years of IT industry experience with strong software development expertise.
• Strong programming experience in Scala and familiarity with Scala frameworks.
• Good working knowledge of Java and backend application development.
• Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming and Functional Programming concepts.
• Experience designing and developing scalable, high‑performance applications and services.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL, including database design, query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and micro‑services.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Banking or financial services domain experience is preferred.
• High analytical skills, initiative, flexibility, customer orientation, quality awareness and excellent communication.
