Senior Scientific Editor – Environmental Science

About the role

We are looking for a senior scientific editor to lead the climate‑related content of One Earth, Cell Press’ flagship sustainability journal. The editor will shape the editorial direction, manage peer review and work closely with authors and reviewers to ensure high‑quality publications.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, recruit and develop high‑impact manuscripts on climate mitigation, adaptation, impacts and related sustainability research.
• Oversee the peer‑review process, select expert reviewers and ensure rigorous, fair and timely evaluation.
• Commission and edit reviews, perspectives and other front‑matter content.
• Conceptualise, plan and launch thematic issues that address pressing sustainability challenges.
• Represent One Earth at conferences, workshops and institutional visits, building relationships with the global scientific community.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific, social‑scientific or interdisciplinary discipline.
• Strong interest across sustainability research, especially climate‑related topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team.
