Senior Scientist – Protein Biochemistry

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing proteomics start‑up, is seeking an exceptional Senior Scientist in Protein Biochemistry. You will work hands‑on in the laboratory to develop protocols, reagents, kits and workflows that unlock new applications for their unique platform and support the transition from development to global product launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise protein extraction, conjugation and post‑translational modification workflows.
• Develop and validate purification processes using FPLC systems (e.g., ÄKTA Pure).
• Lead projects from concept through to delivery, including IP generation and scientific publishing.
• Mentor and support junior scientists within the team.
• Collaborate with scientific and commercial teams to translate platform capabilities into customer solutions.

Required profile

• Strong theoretical and practical expertise in molecular and cellular biochemistry.
• Demonstrable experience in biophysics, protein biochemistry, structural biology and enzymology.
• Hands‑on experience with a broad range of protein manipulation methods, including phosphorylation and glycosylation.
• Highly self‑motivated, independent yet a genuine team player.
• Adaptable, intellectually curious and able to integrate knowledge across multiple domains.
