Senior SEN Caseworker

About the role

The Senior SEN Caseworker will join Lewisham's statutory SEN Team 1, supporting children from birth to Year 7. You will manage a caseload of children and settings, ensuring that Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans are coordinated, reviewed and implemented effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate new EHC needs assessments and draft final EHC plans.
• Conduct consultations with families, schools and other settings.
• Lead annual reviews and oversee phase‑transfer processes.
• Manage complex situations such as placement breakdowns.
• Prepare and present cases to multidisciplinary panels.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in statutory SEN casework across the full lifecycle of EHC planning.
• Strong understanding of UK SEN legislation and local authority processes.
• Ability to work independently while receiving support from senior advisors.
• Excellent communication skills with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams.
