Senior Site Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established regional main contractor to recruit a Senior Site Manager for a £10 million residential apartment scheme in Reading. The role is the No.2 on‑site position, supporting the Project Manager and ensuring the smooth delivery of the new‑build development.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in delivering the £10 m residential apartment scheme.
• Manage day‑to‑day site operations and subcontractor activity.
• Drive programme progress and ensure works meet agreed timescales.
• Maintain high standards of quality, health & safety and site presentation.
• Coordinate trades, logistics, materials and site resources.
• Assist with short‑term programming and daily planning.
• Monitor works against drawings, specifications and quality expectations.
• Liaise with commercial, design and technical teams as required.
• Attend site meetings and provide clear progress updates.
• Help manage snagging, finishing works and handover requirements while promoting a positive, well‑organised site environment.

Required profile

• Experience working for a main contractor.
• Previous experience on residential, apartment or mixed‑use schemes.
• Strong knowledge of new‑build construction.
• Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades.
• Good eye for quality and finishing standards.
• Strong health & safety awareness.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
