Senior Social Worker – Child Protection

About the role

Our client, Leicestershire County Council, is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join its Child Protection team. The role involves managing a complex caseload of up to 16 children in need, pre‑proceedings and court cases, and delivering high‑quality statutory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload covering children in need, child protection, pre‑proceedings and court proceedings.
• Conduct assessments and develop, implement and review child protection and care plans.
• Lead safeguarding investigations and prepare reports for courts, conferences and statutory meetings.
• Present evidence confidently in court when required.
• Build effective partnerships with families, schools, health professionals, police and other agencies.
• Identify and manage risks, ensuring children’s voices are heard throughout the process.
• Maintain accurate, timely case records using electronic recording systems.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with extensive experience in child protection.
• Current registration with the appropriate professional body.
• Ability to manage a caseload of up to 16 complex cases.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic case recording systems.
