Senior Social Worker – Children in Care

About the role

Our client, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, is seeking a Senior Social Worker to deliver a local, personalised social care service for children and families in need. You will work within the Children in Care service, conducting assessments, preparing reports and supporting court proceedings where required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a personal social care service for vulnerable children and families.
• Carry out investigations, planned assessments and produce written evidence‑based reports for complex cases.
• Assess needs in line with council policy and relevant legislation, including joint assessments with partner agencies.
• Develop, coordinate and monitor support plans, ensuring service delivery meets best practice standards.
• Review and amend support plans as circumstances change, promoting self‑advocacy for service users.

Required profile

• Fully registered social worker with experience in children’s services.
• Ability to work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary partners.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding principles.
