Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (Locality Team)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated Children’s Locality Team in Wakefield. The role offers a realistic caseload of around 24 children and a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a statutory caseload of complex Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked‑After Children cases across Wakefield.
• Complete robust Single Assessments, risk management plans and outcome‑focused care plans.
• Lead Section 47 safeguarding enquiries, court proceedings and pre‑proceedings when required.
• Provide informal peer support, mentoring and professional guidance to less experienced social workers.
• Collaborate closely with health partners, schools, police and voluntary sector services.

Required profile

• Active registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualifying experience in a statutory Children’s Locality, Safeguarding or Family Support team.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children and relevant court frameworks.
