Senior Software Engineer – Interoperability

About the role

Join Leo Cancer Care’s engineering team to develop cutting‑edge radiotherapy products for upright patient positioning. The role focuses on DICOM‑RT interoperability between the treatment system and clinical workflows such as Oncology Information Systems and PACS.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement DICOM‑RT features (RT Plan, Dose, Structure Set, Image, Ion Plan).
• Architect network API interfaces to connect the treatment system with OIS (e.g., ARIA, Mosaiq) and PACS servers.
• Maintain the system’s DICOM Conformance Statement and integration documentation.
• Lead end‑to‑end integration testing, including HL7/FHIR messaging where applicable.
• Write specifications, design documents and test protocols in accordance with IEC 62304 and company design‑control processes.
• Develop safety‑critical software for imaging and treatment delivery.
• Support regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k)) related to interoperability.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage external contractors when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of medical device software engineering experience in radiotherapy or related imaging/treatment modalities.
• 10+ years total software engineering experience with demonstrated senior technical leadership.
• Proven experience working in cross‑functional teams (clinical physics, quality, regulatory).
• Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Required skills

• DICOM‑RT standards (RT Plan, Dose, Structure Set, Image, Ion Plan).
• DICOM networking protocols: C‑STORE, C‑FIND, C‑MOVE, C‑GET, DICOM TLS, Storage Commitment, Worklist.
• HL7 v2 and/or FHIR messaging.
• IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 62443 compliance.
• TCP/IP networking, REST and gRPC API design.
• Programming: Python and at least one of C++, C#, Java.
• Linux, shell scripting, systems‑level debugging.
• Version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks.
