Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Technical Futures Ltd, a deep‑tech AI start‑up focused on optimizing complex engineering systems, is looking for a Senior Software / Backend Engineer. You will work closely with engineers and scientists to shape the platform layer and deliver high‑quality, scalable services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement system architectures and the APIs that connect them.
• Coordinate work across services, manage state, and ensure robust failure handling.
• Maintain a strong focus on code quality, testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with scientific teams to integrate simulation results and model‑serving pipelines.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics or related scientific software fields.
• Proven experience in modern software engineering, preferably with Python and Rust.
• Demonstrated ability to design complex systems and APIs.
• Commitment to high code quality and best‑practice development.

Required skills

• Python (including modern tooling and packaging)
• Rust
• Cloud computing or HPC job‑management
• OAuth2 / OIDC identity and authorization flows
• Containerised services on Linux (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure as code (Ansible, OpenTofu)
• Data storage, pipelines, large‑scale simulation handling and model serving
• REST and WebSocket APIs
