Senior Software Engineer (London)

About the role

Perk is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own end‑to‑end feature development on its global travel and spend management platform. You will work closely with product, design and engineering squads, using AI‑augmented tools to deliver reliable, simple solutions that impact millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of feature lifecycles—from understanding customer pain, writing design docs, coding, deploying, to measuring impact.
• Architect scalable, evolvable systems and data models, managing technical debt and ensuring high reliability.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, lead design reviews and raise engineering standards across squads.
• Collaborate across multiple teams to align on technical direction, drive cross‑squad initiatives and contribute to engineering guilds.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate complex business goals into technical roadmaps and de‑risk ambiguous projects.
• Experience designing and delivering large‑scale backend and frontend architectures, including API versioning, caching, and state‑management patterns.
• Strong track record of leading observability, SRE practices and defining SLOs, incident response and blameless post‑mortems.
• Passion for AI‑driven development and comfortable using AI tools throughout the development workflow.

Required skills

• Frontend architecture patterns (state management, performance budgets, E2E testing with Cypress).
• Backend engineering (API versioning, caching strategies, complex data migrations).
• CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies and coding standards.
• Observability, SRE practices, SLO definition and incident management.
• Operational security (secrets hygiene, dependency risk management).
• AI‑augmented development workflows and agentic coding.
