Senior Software Engineer - Risk Services Java / Python

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Risk Services team within Global Markets. The role focuses on designing and building scalable, distributed backend systems that enable risk data processing, analytics and reporting workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance backend services and distributed systems supporting risk data and analytics platforms.
• Build and maintain scalable applications using Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and Python.
• Develop solutions for risk data ingestion, transformation and processing pipelines.
• Contribute to system architecture, design reviews and performance optimisation.
• Work with large datasets to support risk calculations, reporting and downstream analytics.
• Collaborate with risk, front‑office and data teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and release processes to ensure high‑quality delivery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, focusing on stability and performance.

Required profile

• 9–15 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in financial services or large‑scale enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of risk data flows, global markets products and analytics pipelines.
• Experience working in Unix/Linux environments and with messaging frameworks such as Kafka or MQ.
• Familiarity with enterprise data integration patterns (e.g., XML) and modern CI/CD practices.
