Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager (Contract)

About the role

We are supporting a major public‑sector organisation in Merseyside to deliver a £2.5 billion infrastructure portfolio. The Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of structural and civil projects across assets such as the Mersey Tunnels, ferry terminals, bus depots and operational hubs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural and civil engineering projects from scoping and condition assessment through to completion.
• Review condition surveys and technical reports to define project scopes.
• Manage consultants, contractors and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee delivery ensuring safety, schedule and budget compliance.
• Coordinate with the Asset Management team on a diverse operational estate.

Required profile

• Proactive senior engineer with experience across buildings, infrastructure, civil engineering and transportation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in operational environments.
• Experience in public‑sector or local‑government asset management is highly desirable.
