Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our children’s residential home in Greenwich. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people, helping them build confidence, independence and resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shifts and oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the residential home in line with organisational policies and Children’s Homes Regulations.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, keeping their needs at the centre of all decisions.
• Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care according to individual care plans.
• Supervise, mentor and support Residential Support Workers, contributing to inductions, supervisions and ongoing development.
• Promote positive behaviour support and model professional practice.
• Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, key working and reviews.
• Build effective relationships with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
• Maintain accurate records, complete required documentation and support audits.
• Assist with medication management, health and safety compliance and ensure a clean, welcoming home environment.
• Provide leadership in the absence of the Deputy Manager and participate in on‑call duties as needed.

Required profile

• Relevant Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Service or equivalent.
• Experience working in a residential setting with children and young people, demonstrating strong safeguarding awareness.
