Senior Support Worker – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker to join a newly opened three‑bedroom residential home for young people aged 8‑18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs. You will work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of staff to meet the individual needs of each young person.
• Plan shifts, allocate resources and ensure safe staffing levels.
• Collaborate with external professionals and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
• Facilitate education, health care, medication administration and crisis intervention.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to care plans and uphold quality standards.
• Perform domestic duties such as laundry, cleaning, shopping and cooking as required.

Required profile

• Relevant experience supporting vulnerable children and young people (6‑18 years) with EBD and challenging behaviour.
• Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence (preferred) and right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS checks and work flexible hours, including sleep‑ins.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Leadership and team‑management experience.
• Knowledge of crisis de‑escalation and behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to record and administer medication safely.
