Senior Surveyor

About the role

We are partnering with a leading housing association to recruit a Senior Surveyor who will lead a small team delivering high‑quality property maintenance across London and surrounding areas. You will provide expert technical guidance on complex repairs, structural defects, damp and mould investigations, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support a team of surveyors, maintaining high technical and customer service standards.
• Lead investigations into structural defects, damp, mould, insurance‑related works and specialist maintenance issues.
• Diagnose building faults and identify Category 1 and Category 2 hazards using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
• Provide post‑inspection technical advice to internal stakeholders and contractors.
• Ensure health and safety, compliance and operational processes are consistently applied.
• Support planned and ad‑hoc capital works programmes and review resident improvement requests.
• Identify service improvement opportunities and contribute to wider business initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in surveying or property maintenance within housing, local authority, contractor or property management.
• Previous experience managing or supervising a surveyor team.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, property maintenance and defect diagnosis.
• Extensive experience investigating and resolving damp and mould issues.
• Familiarity with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and health‑and‑safety regulations.
