Senior Technical Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager to strengthen the delivery of housing‑led development across the West Midlands. The role will provide rigorous technical and commercial appraisal of schemes before they enter the client’s grant‑funded programme, supporting local authorities through the Pre‑Programme Pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Support the transition of schemes through the Pre‑Programme Pipeline and into the client’s delivery team workflow.
• Conduct robust technical and commercial appraisals of housing and commercial schemes.
• Oversee complex development matters and grant structuring to minimise risk and ensure value for money.
• Act as the primary liaison between local authorities, Homes England and other public institutions.
• Provide timely advice to the ISG and board to inform decision‑making.
• Identify and intervene on projects that do not meet funding criteria, recommending improvements or removal from the pipeline.
• Monitor, manage and report on risks associated with each opportunity.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in residential and commercial real‑estate markets.
• Proven track record in origination, appraisal and delivery of complex real‑estate funding interventions such as loans, equity or grants.
• Experience creating business cases to support development projects.
• Background working within a financial institution, government agency or similarly complex organisation.

Required skills

• Technical appraisal of real‑estate schemes.
• Commercial analysis and risk management.
• Understanding of grant‑funding structures and public‑sector procurement.
