Senior Town Planner – Milton Keynes

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a dynamic planning consultancy in Milton Keynes. You will shape the built environment by leading diverse projects from concept through to successful delivery, working closely with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
• Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals and related documentation.
• Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies and planning assessments.
• Advise clients on planning policies, regulations and strategic approaches.
• Engage with local authorities, stakeholders and industry professionals to secure approvals.
• Represent clients at planning committees, public consultations and appeals.
• Mentor junior team members and promote professional development.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in planning legislation and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Town Planning or a related field.
• RTPI membership or eligibility for membership.
• Significant experience in a planning consultancy or local authority, with deep knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management ability with a proactive, solution‑focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
