Senior Underwriter – Team Leader

About the role

Join a fast‑growing insurance platform as a Senior P&C Underwriter with a team‑lead, player‑coach focus. Based in London, you will work on a high‑volume, digitally traded SME book covering shops, pubs, restaurants and other commercial premises.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite SME Property & Casualty risks through an online trading platform.
• Manage a portfolio of new and renewal business in a high‑speed environment.
• Serve as the technical referral point for a team of six underwriters.
• Coach and support the team on underwriting decisions and platform usage.
• Maintain underwriting discipline, consistency and service standards.
• Assist the Head of Underwriting with day‑to‑day team oversight.
• Develop strong broker relationships within a delegated trading environment.

Required profile

• Strong experience in SME / Commercial P&C underwriting.
• Exposure to e‑trade or online trading platforms.
• Proven experience mentoring, coaching or supporting junior team members.
• Comfortable working in a high‑volume, fast‑moving environment.
• Strong technical judgement with a pragmatic, commercial approach.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
