Senior UX Researcher

About the role

We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join a multidisciplinary team in Edinburgh. You will lead user research across the product lifecycle, ensuring services are built around real user needs and behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Lead user research from discovery through to live phases, including interviews, usability testing, contextual research and workshops.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and delivery teams to shape services and inform decisions.
• Synthesise findings into clear insights, recommendations and reusable research assets.
• Support service design and delivery decisions with evidence‑based guidance.
• Develop and maintain research patterns and approaches for future projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering user research in complex digital or service transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of Government Digital Service principles, service standards and user‑centred design.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience working with senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of accessibility, inclusion and designing for diverse user needs.

What we offer

• Permanent contract with a salary of £55,000‑£65,000 per year.
• Hybrid working model – two days per week onsite in Edinburgh.
