Senior UX Researcher

About the role

We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join a multidisciplinary team in Edinburgh. You will help shape services by understanding user needs, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring designs are people‑centred.

Key responsibilities

• Lead user research across discovery, alpha, beta and live phases.
• Plan and conduct interviews, usability testing, contextual research and workshops.
• Collaborate with product, service design and delivery teams to influence decisions.
• Synthesise findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
• Develop reusable research approaches, patterns and assets for future projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering user research in complex digital or service transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of Government Digital Service principles, service standards and user‑centred design.
• Excellent analysis, synthesis and communication skills, with ability to present findings to senior stakeholders.
• Experience facilitating workshops and working with diverse, inclusive user groups.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

What we offer

• Permanent contract with a salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000 per year.
• Hybrid working model – two days per week onsite in Edinburgh.
