Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Join a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Bristol, delivering high‑quality building services solutions across a range of sectors. The role involves taking ownership of design packages and collaborating with clients and project stakeholders from concept through to post‑completion.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed building services engineering designs and documentation.
• Carry out engineering calculations, analysis and technical assessments.
• Develop schematics, drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and related documentation.
• Represent the consultancy at client, contractor and design team meetings.
• Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to business development and support consultancy growth.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
• Support project reviews, continuous improvement initiatives and deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Required profile

• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership with achievement within 12 months).
• Proven experience designing building services engineering systems.
• Strong understanding of low‑carbon and sustainable building design principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Commercial awareness and project management capability.
• Proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning.
