Service Accountant – NHS Finance Team

About the role

The Service Accountant will join the Management Accounts Team of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing high‑quality financial support to a range of mental health services. You will work closely with budget holders and operational teams to ensure accurate, timely financial information underpins decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Management Accountant in delivering monthly financial reports, forecasts and budget statements.
• Monitor budgets, analyse variances and investigate financial performance.
• Provide clear financial advice to service managers and help maintain effective financial control.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
• Support the production of internal and external financial reporting in line with Trust policies.

Required profile

• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with budget holders and operational teams.
• Interest in developing a career within NHS finance.
