Service Charge Accountant / Bookkeeper – Property Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Service Charge Accountant / Bookkeeper to join an established property management firm in East Hertfordshire. You will manage the financial side of a residential block portfolio, ensuring accurate accounts, budgets and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end service charge accounts and liaise with external accountants.
• Maintain income and expenditure ledgers, including accruals and pre‑payments.
• Produce service charge budgets and financial forecasts.
• Complete bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Process supplier invoices, payments and handle contractor queries.
• Respond to leaseholder account queries professionally.
• Support Property Managers with financial reporting and portfolio updates.
• Ensure compliance with RICS and ARMA guidelines.

Required profile

• Strong background in service charge accounting or property accounts.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage a busy workload.
