Service Desk Engineer – 3 month contract

About the role

You will join a small, friendly IT team supporting a public‑facing organisation of around 2,000 end‑users across multiple sites. This 3‑month contract role involves providing first‑line technical support both remotely and on‑site, handling tickets, and contributing to ongoing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for technical IT support, remotely and physically.
• Log, track and resolve tickets in the IT Service Management (ITSM) tool, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Respond to service requests such as password resets, account unlocks, O365 admin tasks and software installations.
• Maintain Active Directory user accounts and perform basic security administration.
• Support projects, for example laptop build and deployment initiatives.
• Collaborate with third‑party vendors to resolve issues swiftly.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a technical support/help‑desk role.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure and Windows 10 desktops.
• Familiarity with Office 365, Azure AD and basic networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Experience working in an ITIL environment; ITIL certification is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.
