Service Engineer – Lifting Equipment

About the role

You will join a leading lifting equipment hire provider as a Service Engineer / Fitter, responsible for testing, maintaining and repairing a modern fleet of hoists, slings, winches and block‑and‑tackle. The role combines workshop work with on‑site visits to customer locations across the South East.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑delivery inspections (PDIs), routine servicing and repairs on lifting equipment.
• Update service records and produce complete test certificates.
• Work efficiently within a small team to meet workshop targets.
• Maintain health and safety standards in line with HSE and company policies.
• Travel to customer sites as required and provide technical support on‑site.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Service Engineer, Mobile Service Engineer, Lifting Fitter, Hire Technician or in a Test & Run role.
• Background in the lifting/mechanical handling industry.
• Analytical approach to problem solving and ability to work independently.
• Current clean driving licence.

Required skills

• Qualified to LEEA Standard Clean.
