Settlement Processing Manager – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

We are seeking a Settlement Processing Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis to lead a critical finance operations function within a regulated financial‑services organisation. Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will oversee settlement and payment processing, ensure robust controls and drive continuous improvement while working in a hybrid model (three days in the Chatham office).

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day settlement processing operations, maintaining high service standards.
• Manage financial processing activities across multiple business areas and stakeholders.
• Oversee payment processing, reconciliations and banking activities.
• Drive process improvements, operational efficiencies and system enhancements.
• Ensure governance, risk management and audit compliance.
• Develop and maintain business continuity and operational resilience plans.
• Coach, mentor and develop a team of five finance professionals.
• Act as deputy to the Head of Finance Operations when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading cash settlement, payments or finance operations within a financial‑services environment.
• Strong people‑management experience, including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and manage change.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with financial and banking systems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
• Attention to detail with a focus on controls, governance and operational excellence.
