Severe Learning Needs Support – Permanent (Full‑time)

About the role

This permanent position provides essential support to children and young people aged 4‑19 with severe, complex and medical learning needs in a specialist school. You will work alongside a dedicated team to deliver safe, inclusive and engaging education and care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist learners with personal care, hygiene, changing and medical administration.
• Support classroom activities and help learners access the curriculum.
• Work across different age groups and classes as staffing needs change.
• Maintain a safe environment in specialised facilities such as hydro‑pools and sensory rooms.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting complex physical, medical or learning needs in children or adults.
• Understanding of special educational needs such as autism, Asperger’s, Down syndrome and sensory‑communication requirements.
• Pro‑active, caring attitude with a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing class allocations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical administration and personal care procedures.
• Ability to support learners’ educational activities.
