Sheet Metal Worker – £40,016 + Shift Allowance

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to join its onsite team in Glasgow (Govan and Scotstoun). The role offers a competitive salary of £40,016 plus a 33 % shift allowance where applicable, working across a range of day, night and weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture and install high‑quality sheet‑metal components such as ventilation systems and internal fittings.
• Interpret engineering drawings to measure, cut, shape and assemble materials using hand and power tools.
• Produce accurate, well‑finished work that meets required standards and quality expectations.
• Apply practical problem‑solving to resolve issues during manufacturing and installation, ensuring correct fit and safe completion.
• Collaborate with a skilled team to maintain a safe environment and keep projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Holder of a recognised Modern Apprenticeship, Trade Papers, or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, marine or related practical engineering settings.
• Understanding of SHE and COSHH requirements and commitment to safe working practices.
• Attention to detail and strong craftsmanship.

Required skills

• Interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Use of hand tools and power tools for sheet‑metal work.
• Knowledge of SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) regulations.
• Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
