Shift Engineer

About the role

As a Shift Engineer you will work closely with the Head of Engineering to keep plant machinery, maintenance systems and utilities running efficiently. You will be responsible for both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks on a rotating 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Engineering in ensuring the effectiveness of all plant equipment.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to emergency repairs.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly machinery checks and repairs.
• Collaborate with the Production team to minimise downtime and disruption.
• Attend call‑outs for serious breakdowns and perform urgent repairs.
• Maintain housekeeping standards for electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Adhere to strict health & safety procedures and confidentiality policies.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in engineering and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with PLC systems.
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations in an engineering environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, shift‑based setting.
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
