About the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Shift Engineering Technician will implement and execute the factory asset maintenance programme, aiming to eliminate unplanned stops, optimise maintenance costs and increase asset intensity.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise to reduce technical and production losses, coach and participate in problem solving, implement solutions and share knowledge.
- Contribute input for the annual maintenance budget and track maintenance work order costs.
- Support production in eliminating quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues.
- Lead and participate in breakdown analysis.
- Ensure maintenance activities are scheduled and executed on time with high quality.
- Assist with technical training programmes for operational staff.
- Use strong problem‑solving and fault‑diagnosis skills and operate a Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Required profile
- NVQ Level 3 and National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with a time‑served apprenticeship.
- Dual‑trained in mechanical and electrical engineering, preferably with manufacturing/food industry experience.
- Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Experience in installation, inspection and testing (e.g., City & Guilds minor works training).

- Electrical engineering knowledge and qualifications.

- Installation, inspection and testing of electrical systems.
- Use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
