About the role
We are seeking an experienced Shift Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of Tarmac’s cement plant in Dunbar, Scotland. The role ensures safe, efficient production from raw material handling through to dispatch, supporting a 24‑hour operation.
Key responsibilities
- Promote a safety‑first culture, conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments and Safety Leadership Interactions.
- Manage 24/7 plant operations, overseeing shift supervisors and ensuring productivity while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
- Lead employee relations, conduct regular 1‑to‑1 meetings, and drive performance management for the shift team.
- Coordinate contractor activities and schedule training programmes for operational staff.
- Monitor plant operating costs, drive cost‑reduction initiatives, and support continuous improvement of processes and automation controls.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with site stakeholders.
- Commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
