Shift Supervisor – Quarry Operations

About the role

The Shift Supervisor will lead the day‑to‑day operations at Tunstead Quarry, overseeing stone extraction, crushing, processing and dispatch. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient and sustainable shift while driving performance and supporting your team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead quarry, crushing, processing and dispatch activities during the shift.
• Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture.
• Coordinate shift teams to meet production and performance targets.
• Manage plant issues, breakdowns and operational challenges.
• Deliver accurate shift handovers and operational reporting.
• Coach, develop and support operational staff.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and operational deviations.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience (preferred but not essential).
• Background in quarrying, heavy industry, manufacturing or process operations.
• Visible, proactive approach to health and safety.
• Strong communication, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Calm, resilient and adaptable under pressure.
• Experience meeting team and operational performance targets.
• Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills.

• SHE NVQ (preferred)
• Quarry regulations knowledge
• Experience with mobile plant operation
• Experience with processing equipment
• IT literacy
• Numeracy
