Shift Technician – Building Services (Data Centre)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Shift Technician to join our building services team in a 24/7 critical data centre environment in Corsham. The role involves operating, monitoring and maintaining essential mechanical and electrical systems to ensure high‑availability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain building services systems across a 24/7 data centre.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and critical alarms, escalating according to site procedures.
• Support UPS, generator, CRAC/CRAH, HV/LV, fire‑suppression and cooling infrastructure.
• Perform routine inspections, fault finding and first‑line diagnostics to minimise downtime.
• Ensure work complies with health & safety regulations, SOPs, EOPs and permit‑to‑work systems.
• Liaise with specialist subcontractors and manage vendor interactions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, shift logs and incident reports.
• Participate in shift handovers and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, banking or utilities.
• Technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• HV/AP awareness or authorisation (desirable) and IOSH or equivalent health & safety certification (advantageous).
• Ability to work a rotating shift pattern and handle pressure situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
