Site Chemist – Hazardous Waste Management

About the role

As a Site Chemist you will ensure safe handling, analysis and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste at a client facility in Frome. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, wearing required PPE, and gain expertise in industrial chemical processes and waste treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Accept incoming waste loads, complete documentation and ensure compliance with site permits.
• Inspect, classify and segregate materials, label loads according to ADR regulations.
• Perform laboratory analysis of site effluent and customer samples.
• Raise and manage Non‑Conformance reports, implement corrective actions and communicate with stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate traceable records in line with Quality Management Systems.
• Assist in preparing loads for dispatch using flatbed vehicles and vacuum tankers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or related discipline (A‑levels or Applied Science BTECs acceptable).
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and wear PPE at all times.
• Full eligibility to work in the UK indefinitely (e.g., ILR, settled status, British citizenship).
• UK driving licence preferred.
• Experience in waste management advantageous but not essential.

• Competitive salary £26,000‑£28,000 per year.
