Site Engineer – 5 month contract in Plymouth

About the role

Belcan is seeking a motivated Site Engineer to join a high‑profile infrastructure project in Plymouth on a 5‑month contract. This role offers hands‑on experience within a collaborative environment where safety, quality and innovation are paramount.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies and site procedures.
• Support the development and review of Safe Systems of Work, RAMS and permits.
• Maintain accurate site records, diaries, schedules and reports.
• Assist with site surveys, drawing reviews, technical queries and CAD drawing updates.
• Coordinate meetings, manage risk registers and monitor quality and programme targets.

Required profile

• 0‑2+ years’ experience as a Site Engineer or in a similar construction role.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Valid CSCS card and SMSTS or IOSH certification.
• Strong understanding of construction techniques and health & safety standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Basic CAD skills.
• Experience with BIM tools such as Autodesk or Bentley.
• Familiarity with planning tools (Primavera P6, Aphex).
• Knowledge of construction legislation (HSAWA, CDM) and NEC contracts.
• Project management training (APM, Prince2) – desirable.
