Site Engineer – Civil & Water Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Site Engineer to join a tier‑two civil engineering contractor on a major water infrastructure project near Southampton. You will be embedded in the live delivery team, taking full ownership of site accuracy, setting‑out, and engineering control for a high‑profile asset upgrade.

Key responsibilities

• Execute precise setting‑out and dimensional control across civil, structural and groundwork packages.
• Review drawings, update site CAD files and raise TQs/RFIs to resolve design queries instantly.
• Manage quality control on‑site, enforce ITPs, produce as‑built records and gather final handover documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor outputs, coordinate trades and maintain accurate site diaries and progress photos.
• Enforce HSEQ standards, ensuring compliance with Safe Systems of Work and RAMS.

Required profile

• Proven experience in direct site delivery for a civil engineering contractor.
• Practical background on UK water infrastructure projects (clean water, wastewater or treatment assets).
• Degree, HND or HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Valid CSCS card and SMSTS (or SSSTS) certification.
• Hands‑on proficiency with modern surveying/setting‑out equipment and basic CAD software.
