Site Engineer – Water & Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Site Engineer to join a leading UK civil engineering contractor delivering water and infrastructure projects across the South East. The successful candidate will provide on‑site engineering support for multiple schemes, ensuring safe, accurate delivery in line with design and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Set out works using contract drawings and establish survey control.
• Conduct regular checks to verify accuracy and compliance with specifications.
• Prepare site documentation such as ITPs, task briefings, diaries and allocation sheets.
• Assist planning team with short‑term programmes and two‑week look‑aheads.
• Resolve technical queries and on‑site issues promptly.
• Coordinate with procurement to secure resources and materials.
• Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experience setting out on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of construction methods, health & safety and industry standards.
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Use of total stations or similar surveying equipment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Competence with MS Office applications.
• Relevant site certifications (CSCS card, First Aid, IOSH/NEBOSH).
