Site Manager – Construction Aftercare & Defects

About the role

Join one of the UK’s leading contractors as a Site Manager responsible for overseeing the defects and after‑care period across a portfolio of completed projects. Working across multiple sites between Cambridge and Bedford, you will act as the primary liaison between clients, end users, and delivery teams to ensure post‑handover issues are resolved safely and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the after‑care/defects process for several completed schemes.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors attending sites to rectify defects.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders during the defects liability period.
• Conduct site inspections, log and prioritise defects, and ensure safe completion in line with health & safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of defects, progress, and close‑out actions.
• Drive timely resolution of issues to meet contractual and client expectations.
• Collaborate with project delivery teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to after‑care.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and uphold quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Aftercare/Defects Manager within construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, finishes, and quality standards.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial or residential.

Required skills

• SMSTS certification.
• CSCS card.
