Site Manager (Groundworks / Civils) – South England

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a groundworks/civils background to lead a variety of fast‑paced projects across the South of England. You will have full autonomy over sites ranging from new‑build petrol forecourts and retail stores to car parks and EV‑charging stations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage groundworks and civil engineering projects valued up to £2 million.
• Oversee subcontractors, organise labour, and ensure health & safety standards are met on‑site.
• Liaise with clients and the contracts manager, reporting progress, budget and schedule.
• Maintain site safety, follow programme timelines and control costs.
• Travel nationally and stay away from home as required, with full expense coverage.

Required profile

• Proven Site Manager experience in groundworks or civil works.
• Successful delivery of construction projects up to £2 million.
• CSCS card holder (essential).
• Willingness to travel across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Kent and Somerset and stay away from home.
• A desire to progress to a Contracts Manager role.

Required skills

• CSCS certification.
